Lighting your pool can be a somewhat complicated task. There are many factors involved, such as the presence of water so close to electrical components, placement of lights, the size of the pool, and many others. When your pool light starts to flicker, you can trust TriStar Electric to have it fixed up in no time!
Loose Fixture
Your pool is usually a very active place. There are people jumping in and out all the time, playing games, swimming laps, and having a good time. All of this activity can, over time, cause the screws holding your pool light in place to loosen. You can grab your screwdriver and jump in and fix it. If the screw is stripped, however, it needs to be replaced. There’s a rubber gasket that goes underneath the screw, make sure that is replaced with the screw because that is what creates the waterproof seal. If the screw and gasket need replacing, you may want to call a pool care technician or an electrician just to be safe.
Leaky Seal
Your pool light is inside a sealed housing so that no water comes into contact with the electrical components. Since the seal is constantly exposed to chlorine and other pool chemicals, it can degrade over time. If this seal becomes damaged and causes the light to flicker or turn off altogether, it’s time to call the electrician to make sure everything is fixed up and functional.
Dead Bulb
If your pool light bulb is flickering or turned off and the housing is still dry, it may be that the bulb just needs replacing. Be careful, though, because if the bulb isn’t lasting as long as it should that is an indicator of a much worse problem such as a power surge or some faulty wiring somewhere.
