Ceiling Fan Installation from your Maryland Electrician

Maryland Ceiling FanWinter is finally coming to an end. FINALLY! Soon it will be time to switch your focus from heating to cooling. And while your air conditioner is probably at the top of your priority list, your ceiling fans require your attention as well. While they themselves do not cool a room, ceiling fans help improve air circulation, which can greatly improve the comfort of your living space.

  1. Make sure you switch the rotation of your ceiling fans. As you may remember from our previous post, “Fall Maintenance Tips to ready your Home for Winter: Ceiling Fan Rotation,” wintertime rotation should be clockwise, circulating warm air that is trapped on the ceiling. Summertime rotation, meanwhile, should be counter clockwise, pushing air down to circulate air from the floor back upward.
  2. Make sure your ceiling fans are properly installed. This often requires the help of a professional Maryland electrician. Many people are under the assumption that they can just remove a light fixture and replace it with a ceiling fan or heavy light fixture. This, however, is typically not the case. The existing plastic or metal outlet box is probably not rated to hold the additional weight of your new fan or light fixture.

Ceiling fans are not only functional in helping cool or warm a room; they look great and add an element of design wherever they are installed.
